Look Teach Love Introduction Welcome, Fellow Traveler, to an expedition. Our road is empathy. Our treasure is improved practice. Our destination is love. This journey leads us into ourselves. And asks us to be honest. Even when it’s hard. We welcome ourselves, past and present, to show up for this journey. We will meet fellow travelers. And we will bear witness to their stories. This adventure requires us to summon our courage. Courage to look inward. Courage to look with compassion on the people we meet. Courage to grow. There might be shadowy places that we would rather avoid. We will illuminate the darkness together. There might be mountains of pain that we don’t want to climb. We will summit them together. We will be uncomfortable and perhaps embarrassed. We will comfort one another. We will visit alleys, tunnels, underpasses, couches, motels, and overcrowded flats. We will mourn mothers and bury fathers. We will run from abusers and go to sleep with gnawing hunger. But we won’t end there. This journey will change us. It will deepen our understanding.
